How does CoolGlide vein therapy work?
CoolGlide lasers send pulses that help the blood coagulate in the targeted vein. Spider veins are therefore eliminated and absorbed by the body; blood redirects itself to veins located deeper in the skin.
What kinds of veins can be treated?
CoolGlide eliminates spider veins on all parts of the body. Facial spider veins (or telangiectasia) can be quickly treated without surgery or complication. Lower leg spider veins and blue veins can also be treated with remarkable results.

Benefits
- An in-depth review of health issues is done and practical explanations given
- Only 1 or 2 treatments are usually required
- An interval of 8 weeks is advised between treatments
- No treatment is given if the client expresses any hesitation or has any unresolved questions: your wellbeing is our priority.
- This is a less painful and quicker alternative to injections
- Healing generally takes place within 2 to 3 weeks of treatment.
Pre-Treatment Advice
- A photograph is taken before the first treatment to serve as future reference.
- Treatment of spider veins located around the eye socket can only be done by a vascular surgeon experienced in laser treatments so as to avoid any damage that could be caused by the laser light.
- For other areas, the client must wear adequate eye protection during treatment.
- Varicose veins bulging at the surface of the skin can only be treated by a vascular surgeon experienced in laser treatment. The risk of skin lesions due to heating the treated veins is higher in this case.
Post-Treatment Advice
- Treated veins may present symptoms of uticaria. This is frequent and the symptoms will disappear quickly with the application of lightly dosed corticosteroid.
- Parts of larger veins may blacken or become stiff and painful for a relatively long period after treatment. One to two weeks after treatment, the black clot may be removed with a needle or blade by applying a little pressure to get the clot out.
- For some larger varicose veins, some doctors recommend wearing support hose (30 to 40 mm HG pressure) for a maximum of 5 days to improve comfort and reduce bruising.
- Should crusting develop, a moisturiser or antibiotic cream may be recommended.
- Post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation (especially in darker skin types) frequently occurs in reaction to vascular laser treatment but this disappears in time.
- Frequency of treatments is recommended at a 6-week or more interval according to results achieved. Larger spider veins might take up to three months to clear and the area should not be treated again until they do.
