How to rent laser equipment

Necessary steps :

  1. Contact your lessor  :

  2. Ask your Lessor for contact information regarding professional laser training to qualify for certification in the use the Laser Coolglide Vantage from Cutera.
  3. Obtain confirmation from your insurance provider to cover laser hair removal services, varicose vein and skin rejuvenation treatments.
  4. Schedule laser equipment rental dates with your Lessor and complete rental requirements:
    a) Sign 2 copies of the rental agreement
    b) Write a cheque for 10% of the value of the reservation
    c) Send a copy of proof of insurance coverage for laser equipment use
    d) Send a copy of training certificates for all persons who plan to use the laser equipment.
  5. Receive your rental manual, which includes instructions on using the equipment and providing treatment.
  6. Prepare advertising material to announce your new laser services to your current clients or do a mass mailing.
  7. Talk to your clients about your new services as soon as possible and especially in the 2 weeks leading up to equipment rental dates.
  8. Be sure that all persons who will use the laser equipment have thoroughly reviewed the contents of the rental manual and that all required treatment supplies are available.
  9. All related products as well as accessories and brochures are available for purchase from your Lessor.

Required treatment room supplies (available for purchase from Lessor)

  • Clear ultrasound gel
  • Tongue depressors
  • Long cotton swabs (Q-tips on wooden sticks)
  • 100% pure acetone
  • Various sized ice packs
  • White eye liner
  • Liquid eyeglass cleaner and non-scratch lens cloth
  • 2X2 or 4X4 gauze and germicide
  • Mild makeup remover lotion and cotton balls
  • Disposable razors and shaving cream
  • Blood vessel calibre measuring card
  • Demineralised water
  • Anti-viral cream (ex. Zovirax) (optional)
  • Topical anaesthesia with lidocaine (ex. EMLA) (optional)
  • Rigid and opaque teeth guards (optional)

Important Treatment Room Directives

  • Avoid having mirrors in the treatment room
  • Set up in a windowless treatment room or one with opaque curtains
  • Do not keep oxygen in proximity of the laser or in the treatment room
  • Avoid any inflammable anaesthesia in the treatment room
  • Always display well in sight an invisible ray indicator card

Important Rental Points to Consider

  • The Lessee must be adequately trained in using the laser equipment and offering clients skin treatment with the Coolglide Vantage by CUTERA.
  • The Lessee must provide proof of insurance as well as a copy of the training certificate issued by Cutera within required time limits.
  • The Lessee must have liability insurance for fire, theft, vandalism, professional liability and (xx) covering laser equipment rental issued by a recognized insurance company in Quebec and Ontario. The insurance must include clauses covering all risks, losses, damages, and injury to the client during laser treatment for the entire length of the rental period.
  • Le Locataire doit se prévaloir d’une assurance responsabilité feu, vol, vandalisme, responsabilité professionnelle et droit de protection sur location d’appareil laser auprès d’une compagnie d’assurances reconnue au Québec et en Ontario. L’assurance doit inclure les clauses tous risques, pertes, dommages, préjudices pouvant être subis par son client lors d’un traitement avec le laser et ce, pendant toute la durée de la location.
  • A deposit of 10% of total charges for the rental period is required at the time of reservation and the entire remaining amount is due when the equipment is returned.
  • Laser Esthétique Synergie Santé Inc. reserves the right to require reimbursement of any laser equipment part that is damaged following inappropriate use by the Lessee or if the Lessee does not respect recognized usage standards.
  • The Lessee agrees to use the laser equipment only at the location where it is delivered by a representative of Laser Esthétique Synergie Santé Inc.
  • The Lessee agrees to properly install the laser equipment in a suitable location to avoid incidents. In other words,
    • an air-conditioned location
    • a closed location that has a door and lock
    • where there is no outside light shining through a window
    • where there is a functioning extinguisher that meets safety rules
    • where there is a treatment table or chair that is sturdy and safe
    • where there is an electrical outlet dedicated to supplying power to the laser machine.
  • The Lessee must respect treatment protocol so as to provide effective and innocuous treatment, including
    • requiring that all persons present in the treatment room wear safety eyewear
    • using adequate quantities of non-recycled ultrasound gel and pure acetone
    • following all other safety precautions.
  • The Lessee will be solely responsible for all uses made of the laser on his/her clients and must inform such clients regarding all risks and limits of the treatment. In addition, the Lessee must ask for the clients’ agreement to receive the services offered before proceeding with treatment.
  • Should the Lessee purchase a Cutera Coolglide from the manufacturer and therefore wish to cancel the rental contract, the Lessee must provide the Lessor a written notice at least fifteen (15) days before the expected cancellation date. In addition, if the Lessee wishes to cancel the contract for any other reason, then the Lessee must provide Laser Esthétique Synergie Santé Inc. with a written notice of at least sixty (60) days.

List of medications that are counter-indicated or photosensitive

Some medications may cause the skin to react when exposed to the sun. The incidence of photosensitivity can vary greatly—some people will have a serious reaction after having taken medication while other will show no reaction at all.

The above list is not comprehensive! The incidence of other medications causing photosensitivity is rare. Generally, less than 1% of clients say they suffered photosensitivity reactions with the above-mentioned agents.
